WHEN IS NON-DOT DRUG TESTING USED?
Non-DOT drug testing may be used by employers, organizations, and individuals when testing is not governed by federal DOT regulations.
Employers may use Non-DOT testing for purposes such as pre-employment, random testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion, return-to-work, or other testing situations established by company policy or applicable requirements.
Non-DOT programs generally offer employers greater flexibility in selecting testing panels and establishing workplace testing policies.
HOW NON-DOT URINE TESTING WORKS
A urine specimen is collected using professional specimen collection procedures and documented according to the requirements of the selected testing program.
The specimen is then prepared for laboratory processing. When applicable, non-negative laboratory results may undergo confirmation testing and Medical Review Officer (MRO) review before a final result is reported.
Testing requirements may vary based on the employer, requesting organization, selected panel, and purpose of the test.
PROFESSIONAL SPECIMEN HANDLING
Specimens are handled using professional collection and documentation procedures and submitted to the appropriate laboratory for testing and processing.
MULTIPLE PANEL OPTIONS AVAILABLE
Non-DOT urine testing provides greater flexibility in selecting the substances included in a testing panel. Available panels may screen for substances such as:
Marijuana (THC) • Cocaine • Amphetamines • Methamphetamines • Opioids/Opiates • PCP • Benzodiazepines • Barbiturates • Methadone • Additional substances depending on the selected panel
Panel contents vary. Please review the selected test when booking or contact PCT if you need assistance choosing the appropriate panel.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH A NON-NEGATIVE RESULT?
Laboratory-based Non-DOT testing may require confirmation testing and, when applicable to the testing program, Medical Review Officer (MRO) review before a final result is reported.
For employer-directed testing, employment decisions and workplace consequences are determined by the employer in accordance with its policies and applicable requirements. Palmetto Compliance & Testing does not determine disciplinary or employment actions.

Testing information is handled with care and shared only with appropriate authorized parties in accordance with applicable requirements and the testing program.
Palmetto Compliance & Testing follows professional procedures for specimen handling, documentation, and confidential communication throughout the collection process.
