WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A DOT VIOLATION?

A verified positive DOT drug test or certain other DOT drug and alcohol program violations can result in removal from DOT-regulated safety-sensitive functions.

Before returning to safety-sensitive duties, an employee must complete the applicable DOT return-to-duty process, which includes evaluation by a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and completion of required steps before return-to-duty testing.

Follow-up testing may also be required as part of the employee's return-to-duty process.

Palmetto Compliance & Testing provides collection and testing services but does not serve as the employee's Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) or determine employment actions resulting from a DOT violation.
