SIBLING-SHIP DNA TESTING
SIBLING-SHIP DNA TESTING
SERVICE DESCRIPTION
This DNA test is used to determine if two siblings are half siblings or full siblings.
At Palmetto Compliance & Testing, our Sibling-ship DNA Testing service is designed to help determine whether two individuals share one or both biological parents. This type of DNA testing analyzes genetic markers to determine the probability of a biological sibling relationship between two people.
Sibling-ship testing may be used to determine whether individuals are full siblings, meaning they share both biological parents, or half siblings, meaning they share only one biological parent. In a full-versus-half sibling test, the DNA of two individuals who share the same biological mother is compared to help determine how likely it is that they also share the same alleged father.
For the most accurate and conclusive results, we highly recommend that the biological mother of the alleged siblings also provide a DNA sample. Including the mother’s DNA helps the laboratory identify which genetic markers are inherited from the mother and which markers were contributed by the alleged father. This additional information significantly strengthens the accuracy and conclusiveness of the test results.
Sibling-ship can also be performed for two individuals who have different biological mothers to help determine whether they share the same biological father. In these cases, providing DNA samples from both biological mothers is strongly recommended to improve the reliability and conclusiveness of the results. If there are undisputed siblings available for testing, their DNA samples may also assist the laboratory in strengthening the analysis.
The collection process is simple, painless, and non-invasive, typically involving a cheek (buccal) swab from each participant. All samples are collected and handled using professional procedures to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper specimen handling throughout the testing process.
Once specimens are collected, they are securely submitted to an accredited laboratory for advanced DNA analysis under strict quality control standards. Results are carefully reviewed and delivered confidentially within the standard laboratory turnaround timeframe.
Standard testing typically includes:
2 Alleged Siblings
1 Mother (Highly Recommended for Increased Accuracy)
Our goal is to provide reliable answers through professional, confidential, and accurate DNA testing services in a supportive and comfortable environment.
